Tahoe Freeride Champs Crowned: Season Recap & Next-Level Stoke

That's a wrap: An Epic Tahoe Freeride Season. Time to Shred into Summer!

The snow keeps falling, but our 2024 IFSA competition season is officially over! After a string of incredible events, including a postponed-then-awesome Kirkwood Jr 3* and supporting our athletes at the world's biggest junior freeride showdown, the Junior Freeride Championships, it's safe to say we're still buzzing.

The Path to JFC: Breckenridge Bound!

Seeing so many Tahoe athletes killing it at 13,000 feet in Breck was the perfect way to end the season. Massive congrats to our champs, Sawyer Maissen (U12 MSB) and Kate Winslow (U15 FSB), for taking those titles. And a shoutout to our other Top 5 finishers rocking the podium: Tristan Bumann, Tyler Thomson, Camille Little, Oskar Roner, Indy Boyer, Evyn Ellis, Jack Dolan, and Zebedee Schreiber! #TeamTahoe for the win!

We're also stoked that three of this year's Junior Freeride Champions are Tahoe Freeriders – Cass Jones, Kate Winslow, and Indy Boyer. Your hard work paid off!

FWT Challengers: Kirkwood Goes HUGE

This year, the FWT Challengers got a fresh format twist! Being event organizers for Stop #3 was epic, and it made us proud to see Tahoe Freeride sending two rookies – Britta Winans and Tilden Wooley – to the next level of freeride. We know you're gonna crush it on the Freeride World Tour!

Hosting the final event from the top of Kirkwood's Cirque was a dream. Massive terrain, epic lines, and the perfect way to close out the Challengers.

TJFS Finals at Mt. Rose

Our Jr 2* at Mt Rose doubled as this year's Regional Championship! The Chutes delivered as always, testing the mettle of our young guns. Chance Broadhurst and Mack Winterberger took home the Ski for Scotty awards for their seriously impressive lines and commitment.

Overall, TJFS Champs – You ROCK!

Congrats to this year's TJFS Overall Champions, crushing their categories:

  • Kate Winslow (U15 Female Snowboard)

  • Dylan Parker (U15 Male Snowboard)

  • Mya Miller (U15 Female Ski)

  • Carter Baird (U15 Male Ski)

  • Dylan Corcoran (U19 Female Snowboard)

  • Drew Galvin (U19 Male Snowboard)

  • Payton Snow (U19 Female Ski)

  • Henry Cutler (U19 Male Ski)

Kirkwood Jr 3: Massive Lines, Major Sends*

Our Jr. 3* at Kirkwood may have been the biggest junior freeride comp EVER. That Chicken's start was insane! Humbling to see the kids tackle such a massive venue—you definitely warmed it up nicely for the Challengers.

Hania Nowak's fearless skiing and Indy Boyer's stomped 360 were the standout moments this year, earning them the Ski for Scotty buckles!

Save the Date: Let 'em Rip! Golf Tournament - October 5th

The season might be over, but we're not slowing down. Our 4th Annual Golf Tournament fundraiser at Tahoe Donner is the perfect way to keep the freeride stoke alive and support young athletes! Mark your calendars, rally your crew, and let's raise some funds for scholarships!

Announcer Booth Blast

"My friends, being back on the TJFS mic with the legendary Cody was an absolute THRILL! The amazing athletes, coaches, volunteers, and the entire Kirkwood Mountain Resort team have been off-the-charts awesome. Can you feel the energy and vibe from the Tahoe Freeride crew? They are off-the-charts #STOKED!

And hey, my friends, just because competitions are over doesn't mean the season ends. That's the thing about freeride – endless progression and always finding that next challenge.

I've been around this sport for over 30 years, and how it keeps evolving and pushing the limits is mindblowing. All you young shredders out there – you're the future of freeride. Keep that passion burning, chase those epic lines, and let the mountains be your playground! Let's keep this ride going!"
